Listing Outcomes
There are 3 methods to list outcomes. They are:
- Systematic Listing
- Two-Way Tables
- Tree Diagrams
You need to be able to construct a two way table and a tree diagram and be able to use the formula for the fundamental principle of counting to calculate the possible number of outcomes.
Formula for Fundamental Principle of Counting
If one event has m possible outcomes and a second event has n possible outcomes, then the total number of possible outcomes is m X n
